Try skipping - or do you guys call it jump rope? Cheap and easy with all the benefits of a good cardio workout and leg strength training.

I've heard other people suggest the "run in a parking garage" idea that Rahim has. That being said, running outdoors is so much fun... even in the cold. ;)

Maybe you can find a trail that is more of a rough dirt trail where even with snow/ice you'll have good traction. Any woods/hills you can run in?

Oh, and don't call it a Set-Back... it's just an extended recovery period.

If you are really concerned about fitness, you could always get a cheap "bike trainer" and set it up indoors to just do some spinning and get a good cardio workout in.

Ewww.... Treadmills.. I work at an office building with 4 levels of underground parking. When it's super cold (like -5 in Denver last few days) or super snowy (2 feet of snow a month ago), I usually run laps at the third sublevel which usually doesn't get many people to park there (lower carbon monoxide level). So, find yourself a parking garage and find an empty floor and do laps! Way better than running on a treadmill.

That stinks.

Buy a treadmill, or move to someplace really cool like San Diego. Our worst possible days, it will be 35 degrees and maybe some mist.
